Devotional | These Signs Will Follow Believers
"And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Mark 16:17, 18 (NKJV)
The gospel isn’t just words — it’s power. When you said “yes” to Jesus, you stepped into a life of supernatural authority. Mark 16 doesn’t say “these signs will follow pastors, evangelists, or special ministers.” No — it says these signs will follow those who believe.
From day one as a born-again believer, you have authority over darkness. In Jesus’ name, you can cast out demons. You don’t need a special title. You don’t need a ministry. You don’t need years of training. You need Jesus. You need to be His disciple. Somewhere along the line, the Church complicated it — making it seem like you needed to “climb a ladder” spiritually before God could use you. That’s a lie. The Bible makes it simple: Believers cast out demons and lay hands on the sick.
You don’t need a “healing ministry” — you need compassion and faith. You don’t need a “deliverance ministry” — you need the Holy Spirit. Jesus already paid the price and gave you His authority. Luke 10:19 (NKJV) says, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
But here’s why so many people don’t walk in this: they’re afraid. Afraid of demons. Afraid of not seeing results. Afraid of what people think. You know what the Bible says? The Bible says perfect love casts out fear. You can’t afford to fear a devil Jesus already defeated. Jesus lives in you — so no demon can destroy you. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4)
If you’re waiting to “feel ready,” you never will. God’s not looking for ability — He’s looking for belief. Take a risk. Pray for someone today. Step out. You’re not alone — He works with you.
Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to the authority You’ve given me as a believer. I refuse fear, doubt, and hesitation. Use my hands today to heal the sick and set captives free. I choose to believe Your Word. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Challenge for Today
Pray for someone today — out loud. Lay hands on someone who is sick or struggling and declare healing in Jesus’ name. Believe what He promised: they shall recover.
Championing you,
Todd White
