Devotional | Taste and See

Jesus said in John 10:10 (NKJV):

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”

Psalm 34:8 (NKJV)

I want to challenge you to taste and see that the Lord is good. Not taste and see that church is good. Not taste and see that ministry is good. Taste and see that the Lord is good.

Because once you taste Him, once you really encounter Him, everything else loses its flavor. Sin doesn’t look attractive anymore. Compromise doesn’t make sense anymore. You’re not fighting sin anymore — you’re in love with Jesus.

People ask me all the time, “Todd, how do you stay free?” And I tell them the same thing every time: I don’t manage sin. I pursue Jesus. I don’t wake up thinking, “Don’t mess up today.” I wake up thinking, “God, I love You. I want You. I want Your heart.”

When you taste Him, the world doesn’t satisfy you anymore. You’re not trying to escape hell — you’re responding to love. And love changes everything. Love makes obedience a joy, not a burden. Love makes holiness normal.

I want you to flow in miracles. I do. I want you to go to hospitals. I want you to cast out devils. I want you to go through the open doors. But I want you to know who God is and who you are when you get there. I don’t want you to go there and be like, “I’m a demon-caster-outer,” but you’re still hooked on porn. I want you to be free. I want you to be clean. God desires that you be completely clean the whole way through.

But I can’t make you clean. Jesus said in John 15:3 that you’re clean through the words that He’s spoken over you. Because the Holy Spirit was there when He was speaking. His words are spirit and life.

So now the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead — the Spirit of Truth — has come. He dwells inside of me. He dwells inside of you, if you’re a born-again believer. And when I see truth, if I allow the Holy Spirit through intimacy to be able to make this word real to me, it renews my mind and it absolutely takes the place of all the demonic stuff I used to think. It kicks it out because there’s no room at the end. (Romans 12:2)

The blood of Jesus washes your conscience, purifies you, and you can live with a sanitized conscience. Then, when the baptism of the Holy Ghost and fire falls upon a blood-washed conscience, you’ve got amazing ground to build on. You’ve got an amazing, amazing, amazing foundation. Now you’re no longer trying to say, “Look at me! I can heal the sick.” Instead, you’re saying, “Look at Him. I’m His son.” It’s powerful. This is the position to live from: one built on the solid foundation of the trustworthy one: Jesus Christ.

Challenge for Today
Spend intentional time just loving Jesus — not asking for anything, not fixing anything. Ask Him to let you taste His goodness again.

Prayer
Jesus, I don’t want religion. I want You. Let me taste and see Your goodness again. I don’t want to manage sin — I want to be consumed by love. Be my satisfaction. Amen.

Bless you guys,

Todd White
