“... The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

 Matthew 9:37, NKJV

God never designed the Christian life to be passive.

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NKJV), “... He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” This isn’t just about money — it’s about how you live.

God supplies seed to the sower — not the hoarder.

Seed is meant to be planted. And when it’s planted with purpose, God promises increase — not so we can live comfortably, but so we can abound in every good work.

Jesus said in Matthew 9:37 (NKJV), “... The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” Then he says something powerful in verse 38:Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

The word “send” there is ekballō — it means to thrust out.

This isn’t about convenience.
This is about commission.

You weren’t saved to sit.
You were saved to be sent.

God never intended for His people to gather once a week and disconnect from mission the rest of the time. You don’t go to church — you are the church. Everywhere you go, the Kingdom goes with you.

When that revelation hits, life changes.

Work becomes ministry.
The grocery store becomes mission.
Your neighborhood becomes a harvest field.

And when you sow your life — your time, love, resources, and attention — God multiplies it. Not because He needs anything from you, but because He wants everything for you.

Living sent isn’t pressure.
It’s a privilege for the one who has been saved by grace through faith.

Prayer

Father, thank You for trusting me with Your Kingdom. Teach me to sow my life with purpose. Remove fear, passivity, and distraction, and help me live fully sent — aware, available, and willing every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Reflection Questions

  1. Which harvest field(s) has God already placed me in?

  2. What does “living sent” look like in my daily routine?

  3. Am I sowing generously or cautiously with my life?

Challenge for Today

Intentionally love one person today — through encouragement, generosity, or prayer. Don’t rush past the opportunity.

Living “sent” with you,

Todd White
