“I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
John 8:12, NKJV
I want to share my heart with you — not just to inspire you, but to awaken something in you. My prayer is that this devotional doesn’t just inform your mind, but that it sets you on fire. Not a momentary spark. Not emotional hype. But a burning, red-hot fire that can’t be put out by circumstances, people, or pressure.
There’s a kind of fire that comes from truly knowing God.
Not knowing about Him.
Not knowing church culture.
But knowing the Father.
Sometimes people don’t want truth — not because it’s unclear, but because it exposes something. Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV) says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” When truth shows up, it confronts the lies we’ve agreed with. And the enemy hates that. So he tries to silence truth — through fear, intimidation, unforgiveness, or even offense.
I understand that way of thinking because I lived in it…
Before I got saved, my mind was dark. I’m not talking poetic language — I mean truly dark. I thought murder. I thought suicide. I thought manipulation and deception. My thinking was twisted because I was blind. And when someone is blind, they don’t see danger — they just walk toward whatever feels right in the moment.
That’s why the world is so confused.
When people are blind, they don’t need condemnation — they need sight.
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
When I encountered Jesus, He didn’t just forgive my sin — He healed my vision. He didn’t just erase my past — He transformed my future. The thoughts that once controlled me lost their authority. The lies that once shaped my identity were replaced with truth.
That’s what salvation really is.
It’s not behavior modification.
It’s not rule-keeping.
It’s new creation.
Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV), “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Not improved.
Not cleaned up.
New.
When your mind begins to renew (Romans 12:2), something incredible happens — forgiveness becomes natural. Love becomes your default. Joy becomes your strength. And people start to notice.
They’ll say, “You’re different.”
And they’re right.
You are different — because you’re alive IN HIM.
The world has been shaped by fear, hatred, racism, and confusion for far too long. But when someone truly encounters Jesus, those things lose their grip. Love doesn’t need to be forced — it flows. Compassion doesn’t need to be trained — it’s released.
This is what happens when the fire of God burns inside you.
Not religious fire.
Not emotional fire.
But relationship fire.
God isn’t distant. He’s not angry. He’s not waiting for you to fail so He can correct you. He’s a loving Father who ran toward us while we were still far off.
And once you see Him like that — everything changes.
Father, thank You for opening my eyes. Thank You that You didn’t just forgive me — You gave me new life. I ask that You renew my mind, burn away every lie I’ve believed, and ignite a fire in me that cannot be extinguished. I want to see You clearly, love people genuinely, and live fully alive in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal one lie you’ve believed about yourself or God — and replace it with truth from Scripture. Write it down and speak the truth out loud.
Love you,
Todd White
