--- title: Devotional | Becoming the Righteousness of God description: True faith isn’t just about hearing—it’s about doing. In this powerful reflection on James 1:22 and the Parable of the Talents, Todd White challenges believers to move from knowledge to obedience, surrendering fully to Jesus and living with purpose, purity, and power. image: https://media.lifestylechristianity.com/hubfs/Artboard%2037BecomingRighteousness.png --- [Skip to content](https://media.lifestylechristianity.com/todd_white_devotionals/devotional-becoming-the-righteousness-of-god#main-content) [![Lifestyle Christianity](https://media.lifestylechristianity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Artboard%202-1.png?width=800&height=635&name=Artboard%202-1.png)Homepage](https://lifestylechristianity.com/) - [Devotionals](https://media.lifestylechristianity.com/todd_white_devotionals) [Give](https://lifestylechristianity-bloom.kindful.com/) - [Devotionals](https://media.lifestylechristianity.com/todd_white_devotionals) [Give](https://lifestylechristianity-bloom.kindful.com/) ![](https://media.lifestylechristianity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Artboard%2037BecomingRighteousness.png?width=1200&height=630&name=Artboard%2037BecomingRighteousness.png) becoming the righteousness of God # Devotional | Becoming the Righteousness of God ![Todd White](https://media.lifestylechristianity.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Artboard%20192.png?width=48&height=48&name=Artboard%20192.png) Todd White September 16, 2025 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 CORINTHIANS 5:21 (NKJV)   Jesus — who knew no sin — *became* sin on that tree so that you and I could *become something.* Grace isn’t something you can earn. It’s something you receive through faith. Jesus didn’t die just so you could go to Heaven one day — He died so you could *become the righteousness of God* here on Earth*.* If you don’t see what you’ve become by *nature*, you’ll spend your whole life *doing* in order to try to *be.* The gospel is very clear — Jesus *became sin* so that we could *become righteous.* And when that hits your heart? You’ll never want to sin again. It doesn’t mean you won’t sin ever again, but you *don’t want* to. You’ll want to run toward holiness — not to prove something, but because *you’ve been changed.* The gospel is not a “gos-pill.” You don’t pop it once and go on your way. **You feast on it daily.** The truth is, you’re no longer identified by your past, your struggle, your failure, or even your feelings. You are who *He* says you are — righteous, clean, holy, and new. 🟡 **Challenge for Today:**Say it and meditate on the truth of God’s Word: “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.” Let that truth settle deep in your spirit. Then walk it out. Live free today — not trying to earn righteousness, but walking in it because it’s already yours.
